Skiddaw House Hostel Navigation Skills Course

3-5th November 2023, at the UK’s highest hostel!

Are you ready to take your outdoor adventures to the next level? Join us in the Lake District for a weekend of learning as we teach you the essential navigation skills to navigate in the outdoors confidently and safely.

The course will be held at the Skiddaw House Hostel. With its stunning views and remote location, it's perfect for a navigation skills course. Accommodation is in single-sex shared dormitories and is included along with all meals. We will have the whole hostel to ourselves for the weekend.

This course is suitable for complete beginners or those with a little more knowledge that want more practice.

It is suitable for both walkers and runners - the first day will be taught navigation skills at walking pace with no one left behind. On Sunday morning you will have the chance to complete a short navigation course at your own pace.

We will cover a range of navigation topics including map reading, compass skills, and route planning.

As there is no vehicle access to the hostel, the plan is meet Friday in two groups from 4pm onwards (but we will get the most popular times to meet to arrange these) to walk into the hostel, but other arrangements can be made for those who cannot arrive this early.

The weekend will finish back in Keswick 3pm Sunday.
